IMA-NH June Ethics Webinar - SOLD OUT

When:  Jun 2, 2020 from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  New Hampshire Chapter
We've had a great response to our invitation and all the Zoom "seats" for this event have been filled.

We are going ahead with our annual June ethics CPE event on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 starting at 6pm via webinar.

The topic for discussion will be: Price Discrimination and Free Enterprise: Ethical Considerations for Corporations and Consumers

In 2018, an average American household spent over $61,000 on goods and services.  Did these families receive a fair price for their purchases?  Perhaps, but in many instances consumers did not pay the “same” price.  Variable pricing strategies go by many names: Dynamic Pricing, Price Optimization, and Price Discrimination, to only name a few. Regardless of the nomenclature, inequities exist. Two consumers, frequenting an establishment at the same time, may pay starkly different prices for the same product.  Our discussion will examine the ethical and legal considerations involved in dynamic pricing as it pertains to airline tickets, car insurance, and other goods and services.

Our presenter and facilitator for the event will be Professor Joshua Becker.  He is the Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian, and an Associate Professor, at Southern New Hampshire University. Professor Becker is the incoming Christos and Mary Papoutsy Distinguished Chair in Leadership Ethics. He holds an MSLIS from the University of Illinois and an MAT in English Education from Boston University. His research interests include: Information Ethics, Assessment, and Universal Design.
