Professional Designations:  What You Need to Know

Join us on Wednesday, February 10th starting at 6pm for a panel discussion of two of the most prevalent professional designations for accountants: the CMA and CPA designations.

This event is open to students or professionals who are interested in learning what the credentials can do for their career.

The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a globally recognized professional credential focusing on management accounting and corporate performance.  CMAs not only know how to prepare corporate financial reports but also how to explain the story behind the numbers.  According to the IMA's 2019 US Salary Survey, CMAs earn 55% more in the U.S. than professionals without a designation.

The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a US credential for licensed accounting professionals committed to protecting the public interest. Accountants with the CPA designation offer financial statement audits and other attestation services to help inform investors about the financial health of organizations.

The panelists for the discussion will be:

  • Duncan Rae, MSA
  • Alexandra Graham

Duncan joined Nathan Wechsler & Company as an Accounting Associate in October of 2020.  A graduate of SNHU, Duncan earned his Master’s in Professional Accountancy in 2020 and his BS in Business Administration in 2019.  In 2020, Duncan passed all four parts of the CPA Exam, while working as a Graduate Assistant for the Southern New Hampshire University Honors Program

Alexandra is the Professor and IMA Chapter Coordinator for Gleim Publications.  She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in English. In her downtime, she plays on two American Poolplayers Association (APA) teams and regularly attends local and national billiard tournaments. Alexandra also enjoys skating, basketball, volleyball, and many other outdoor activities. She also considers herself a huge Florida Gator fan!

This will be an informational panel.  No CPE will be given for this event.
