IMA-NH In-Person CPE Event is Back!

Join us for our annual IMA-NH ethics seminar.  We are happy to announce that this seminar will be IN-PERSON at the Puritan Conference Center in Manchester, NH.  We are looking forward to seeing our members again!

We also are happy to announce that the SNHU Graduate Accounting Situational Ethics class will be joining us. It is free to for that class, they just need to register with Professor Jeremy Glines.

Schedule for the night:

  • Networking: 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Dinner served at 6:00 PM
  • Ethics Seminar to begin shortly after dinner running till about 8:00 PM

Cost for attending the event is $40.00. 2 CPE’s will be earned by participating.

The two topics for the evening will be:

Topic 1: Nearly 20% of Americans are subject to non-compete clauses (NCC) in their employment. By their nature NCCs restrict employee movement from one job to another. Are these clauses beneficial to businesses and employees? What makes a NCC fair to all parties involved?

Topic 2: Employers seeking new employees often turn to artificial intelligence for initial assessments of applicants. Advocates would argue these hiring algorithms are very efficient and represent a significant reduction in human bias. While utilizing AI may reduce costs, ethical questions remain. Does this technology facilitate a level playing field for applicants?

Our presenter and facilitator for the event will be Professor Joshua Becker. He is the Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian, and an Associate Professor, at Southern New Hampshire University. Professor Becker was a Christos and Mary Papoutsy Distinguished Chair in Leadership Ethics at SNHU. He holds an MSLIS from the University of Illinois and an MAT in English Education from Boston University. His research interests include Information Ethics, Assessment, and Universal Design.
